Construction Superintendent

A well-established heavy civil contractor is looking for an experienced Civil Superintendent to join its team in the Cleveland, Ohio market.

This is a field leadership opportunity for a Superintendent with a strong background in heavy highway, roadway reconstruction, underground utilities, grading, drainage, dirtwork and bridge-related civil construction
. The company operates across Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, delivering ODOT, county, municipal and private-sector projects
.

The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day field operations, leading crews and subcontractors while driving production, safety, quality and schedule performance.

• Lead daily field operations across heavy civil and heavy highway projects.
• Supervise Foremen, Laborers, Operators, Pipelayers and subcontractor crews.
• Manage MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) and ensure work is executed safely around live traffic.
• Coordinate roadway reconstruction, excavation,
  mass dirtwork, grading, embankment and subgrade preparation
  .
• Oversee underground utility installation, including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline and drainage systems.
• Coordinate bridge, roadway and site-development activities with Project Managers and field engineering teams.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, elevations, grades and project schedules.
• Coordinate equipment, manpower, materials and subcontractors to maintain production.
• Work closely with survey crews to ensure grades, elevations and linework are being maintained.
• Monitor daily quantities, production rates and manpower.
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with ODOT specifications, project plans and safety requirements
  .
• Identify field issues and develop solutions to keep projects moving and on schedule.
• Maintain daily reports, documentation and communication with project management.
• Coordinate multiple crews and operations across active construction sites.

• 3+ years of experience in a Superintendent or senior Foreman role within heavy civil/heavy highway construction
  .
• Strong experience with ODOT projects and Ohio roadway construction.
• Background in MOT, roadway reconstruction, excavation, dirtwork, grading and drainage
  .
• Experience with underground utilities, including storm, sanitary and water.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics and production.
• Ability to read civil construction plans and understand grades, elevations and quantities.
• Experience managing heavy equipment operations and coordinating multiple field crews.
• Strong understanding of OSHA and jobsite safety requirements.
• Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, Inspectors, subcontractors and owners.
• ODOT/municipal project experience is strongly preferred.
