Baker Hostetler is seeking a mid-to-senior-level Business Associate (4+ years of law firm experience) to bolster its Energy Credit practice which is part of the firm’s nationally recognized Community Development team. This practice advises developers, investors, lenders, syndicators, sponsors, and governmental entities in structuring, financing, developing, acquiring, and operating renewable energy projects. Candidates with substantial experience in renewable energy tax credits are encouraged to apply.
QualificationsInclude
- 4-7 years of experience in renewable energy tax credit transactions, or similar transactions
- Experience representing investors, lenders, developers, sponsors, syndicators, or fund participants in tax-advantaged investment structures
- Experience reviewing organizational documents, financing agreements, development agreements, partnership agreements, equity capital contribution agreements, and tax credit-related transaction documents
- Experience drafting and negotiating transaction documents, conducting due diligence, coordinating closings, and managing transaction work streams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple sophisticated financing transactions simultaneously
- A strong academic record, having earned a J.D. from a nationally recognized and accredited law school
- Renewable energy project finance and tax credit transferability transactions
- Experience with tax credit transfer transactions and renewable energy incentive structures
- Experience representing institutional investors, banks, tax credit funds, or syndicators
- Tax equity investments, partnership-flip structures, or other tax-advantaged financing arrangements
- Federal, state, or local incentive programs supporting community development projects
- Representation of financial institutions, private equity funds, corporate investors, or developers
- Professional commitment and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed in a collaborative team environment
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Clear and concise communication style (oral and written) with clients and team members

The salary offered in any location will be determined by a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, experience level, education/training, geographic region, and relevant skills. Associates also participate in a performance- and hours-based bonus program. For Chicago, the expected annual salary range for this position is $285,000 - $385,000.
