American Medical Administrators (AMA LTC) is seeking an experienced, adaptable, and clinically driven Mobile Director of Nursing (DON/RN) to provide leadership and clinical support across our skilled nursing facilities throughout our Ohio region
.

This is not your traditional Director of Nursing position.

The Mobile DON serves as a trusted clinical leader across approximately 5–6 skilled nursing facilities
, stepping in where leadership, stabilization, mentorship, or additional clinical expertise is needed most. Whether supporting an established DON, assisting a facility through a leadership transition, preparing for survey, or temporarily assuming the DON role, you will have the opportunity to make a measurable impact across multiple teams and communities.

We are looking for a seasoned long-term care nurse leader who can walk into a building, quickly assess the clinical operation, build relationships with the team, identify opportunities, and help move the facility forward.

• Serve as the interim/acting Director of Nursing at assigned facilities when additional leadership coverage is needed.

• Provide hands‑on clinical and operational support across approximately 5–6 skilled nursing facilities within the region.

• Assess nursing department operations and develop actionable strategies to strengthen clinical performance.

• Help stabilize facilities during leadership transitions, staffing challenges, regulatory concerns, or periods of increased clinical need

• Partner with facility Administrators, Directors of Nursing, regional leadership, and executive leadership to drive strong clinical outcomes.

• Ensure nursing operations remain compliant with applicable federal, state, and company standards, policies, and regulations
  .

• Support facilities with survey readiness, plans of correction, regulatory visits, audits, and follow‑up initiatives
  .

• Monitor clinical indicators, quality measures, documentation practices, and other performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Develop and support corrective action plans designed to improve resident outcomes and clinical performance.

• Mentor, coach, and develop Directors of Nursing, Assistant Directors of Nursing, unit managers, and frontline nursing teams

• Provide education and guidance regarding clinical best practices, documentation, infection prevention, resident safety, and company policies.

• Act as a clinical resource during significant events, including infection‑control concerns, outbreaks, adverse clinical events, or other urgent situations
  .

• Participate in facility and regional leadership meetings and provide clinical insight, recommendations, and follow‑through.

• Play an active role in the onboarding, training, and development of newly hired Directors of Nursing
  .

• Maintain consistent communication with regional and executive leadership regarding facility progress, clinical concerns, and areas requiring additional support.

• Travel regularly throughout the assigned region based on operational and clinical needs.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.

• Previous Director of Nursing experience in skilled nursing/long‑term care strongly preferred

• Strong working knowledge of CMS requirements, state and federal regulations, survey processes, and long‑term care clinical operations.

• Demonstrated ability to lead nursing operations through periods of transition, change, or increased regulatory focus.
