Chief Nursing Officer# JOB SUMMARY The Education Director provides centralized coordination, oversight, and monitoring of hospital-wide and clinic-based staff education, orientation follow-up, clinical competency activities, continuing education, student and observer experiences, and life-support training programs. The position collaborates with department leaders, Quality, Infection Prevention, Employee Health, and Administration to identify educational needs and ensure education is organized, documented, and responsive to patient safety, regulatory, quality, and workforce priorities.

This is a part-time leadership position scheduled for a minimum of 24 hours per week, generally three days per week, with flexibility as needed to support scheduled classes, orientation activities, skills validation, and organizational education events.#

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
** New Hire Orientation and Follow-Up
*** Assist in coordination of employee orientation in collaboration with Human Resources and department leaders.
* Conduct or coordinate post-orientation follow-up with new employees and department leaders to identify incomplete education, competency needs, or additional support. Monitor completion of required orientation education, checklists, competencies, and assigned learning activities.
* Assist leaders in maintaining a consistent, organized orientation process across hospital departments and clinics.
** Annual Clinical Competency Program
*** Assist in the organization and maintenance of the annual clinical competency program for applicable hospital departments and clinics. Identifying required annual, role-specific, high-risk, low-frequency, and policy-driven competencies.
* Develop and coordinate annual clinical skills days.
* Maintain organized education and competency records to support regulatory and accreditation readiness.
** Students, Observers, and Shadow Experiences
*** Serve as the primary organizational contact for observation, shadowing, and student experiences occurring within the hospital and clinics. Ensure observers and students meet applicable organizational requirements before beginning an experience.
* Coordinate placement, scheduling, required documentation, confidentiality expectations, orientation, and communication with participating departments and schools/programs.
** Continuing Education and Staff Development
*** Identify, coordinate, and communicate continuing education opportunities for staff.
* Arrange for outside organizations, educators, vendors, subject-matter experts, and other appropriate resources to provide on-site education when beneficial.
* Coordinate required KBN documentation, applications, records, evaluations, and reporting consistent with applicable requirements.
** BLS / ACLS / PALS Program Oversight
*** Act as an instructor, when appropriately credentialed, for BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS programs.
* Coordinate and monitor MCH instructors who provide BLS, ACLS, and PALS education.
* Maintain an organized schedule of classes and assist in monitoring instructor credentials, course materials, equipment, rosters, and completion records.
** Quality Improvement and Targeted Education
*** Collaborate with department leaders, Quality, Infection Prevention, Employee Health, and Administration to identify trends, findings, incidents, audit results, survey findings, or performance gaps that may benefit from focused education.
* Assist with education related to new or revised policies, procedures, equipment, clinical practices, regulatory expectations, and patient safety initiatives.
* Evaluate the effectiveness of education when appropriate and assist leaders with follow-up when performance gaps remain.
** Community Education and Outreach
*** Assist with hospital-sponsored community education events, health fairs, outreach programs, and other educational activities.
* Support community education efforts that align with hospital services, prevention priorities, and identified community needs.
** Program Administration and Regulatory Readiness
*** Maintain an annual education calendar and organized records of educational activities.
* Assist with preparation for surveys, audits, and regulatory reviews involving staff education, competency, training, or continuing education records.
