They spend time on the floor, challenge assumptions, translate financial insights into action, and actively improve plant performance—not just report on it.
General Purpose of the RoleThe Jeffersonville facility is part of a multi-site manufacturing organization with approximately 800 employees across seven locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This 125,000 sq. ft. facility supports approximately 115 team members and operates within a broader shared-services finance structure.
The Plant Controller oversees the financial health of the facility, drives cost management and financial accuracy, and supports operational decision‑making through actionable insights. This role reports to the Divisional Controller and serves as a trusted business partner to the Plant General Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to plant leadership, influencing operational decisions through data‑driven insights and sound financial judgment.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to reflect plant performance and financial position.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking, including monitoring manufacturing costs and capital expenditures.
- Track, control, and reduce production costs, allocating labor, overhead, and material costs to product lines.
- Oversee inventory valuation for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, including cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
- Analyze and explain variances across costs, margins, efficiency, and capacity utilization.
- Support product pricing strategies through detailed cost analysis.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Partner closely with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to align financial insight with execution.
- Enhance accounting systems, processes, and reporting for accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency, including ERP support and modifications.
- Identify and implement initiatives that improve profitability, operational efficiency, and plant performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 3–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Prior experience as a Plant Controller, Finance Manager, or Cost Accountant preferred.
- Working knowledge of GAAP.
- CPA or CMA a plus.
- Ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights that influence leadership decisions.
- Strong manufacturing finance acumen, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory accuracy, and operational KPIs.
- Operational curiosity with a hands‑on approach—comfortable spending time on the plant floor to understand processes and challenge assumptions.
- Executive‑level communication skills, with the confidence to influence non‑financial leaders and respectfully challenge decisions when needed.
- High judgment and integrity in safeguarding financial accuracy, compliance, and risk boundaries.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment while driving continuous improvement.
