Registered Nurse

A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective, patient-centered care. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care.

The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care. The RN is responsible for mentoring and precepting staff.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assessment:
  Performs assessments and reassessments per policy or as warranted by patient condition.
• Development & Implementation:
  Initiates, prioritizes, implements, and revises the plan of care as indicated.
• Evaluation:
  Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions.
• Education:
  
  Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
• Leadership:
  Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. The RN functions as a mentor and preceptor, encouraging teamwork. The RN identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. The RN participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. The RN complies with regulatory standards.
