District Special Education Assistant
Physical ability to perform CPI Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Ability to independently implement complex behavior plans. Ability to provide behavior supports calmly and effectively. Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly in a changing environment. Work under the supervision of the supervising teacher or administrator. Assist in presentation of lessons. Assist in implementing behavior plans (ie. document behavior on point sheet).
Assist/monitor students for morning and afternoon arrival and departure. Provide support and accommodations in general education classroom and specials as specified in the IEP. Assist students in group setting by fostering independence. Potentially assist with hygiene needs of students (ie. toileting, transferring, feminine needs, etc.) Assist in any other miscellaneous functions as required by building administrator. Ability to manage multiple transitions of students and materials between classrooms on a daily basis.
Flexibility with a changing schedule. Assist in the maintenance of equipment and materials used by student. Assist with keeping records and files. Accompany teacher and/or students on field trips. Building assignment may change based on priority of student needs in district. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
