Elementary Classroom Assistant - Bursley Elementary
Position Class I - 29.75 hours/week School year employment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to follow lesson plans with individual or small groups.
- Ability to provide behavior supports calmly and effectively.
- Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly in a changing environment.
- Ability to do multiple outdoor recess duties a day.
- Work under the supervision of the certified staff.
- Lead a reading, writing, and math group.
- Assist in presentation of lessons.
- Assist in implementing/monitoring behavior plans.
- Assist/monitor students for morning and afternoon arrival and departure.
- Provide support and accommodations in classrooms.
- Assist students in the cafeteria by fostering independence with eating, time management, and serving food (daily).
- Assist with hygiene needs of students (ie. toileting, transferring, diapering, etc.).
- Monitor and provide social support/discipline during outdoor recess.
- Assist in any other miscellaneous functions as required by building administrator.
- Ability to manage multiple transitions of students and materials between classrooms on a daily basis.
- Flexibility with a changing schedule.
- Prepare rooms and materials for daily activities.
- Assist in making materials for the classroom.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and materials used in the classroom.
- Keep track of supplies and assist in the ordering of the same.
- Assist with keeping records and files.
- Accompany teacher and/or students on field trips.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
