Laser Weld Engineer | Jenison, MI
Salary Range: $86,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are partnering with organizations in Jenison that are seeking Laser Weld Engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
- Design and implement laser weld tooling and fixtures.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality.
- Establish and maintain laser welding process documentation, including work instructions and specifications.
- Conduct training for production personnel on laser welding techniques and safety.
- Evaluate and recommend new laser welding equipment and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical, Welding).
- 3+ years experience in laser welding processes and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, material science, and weldability of various alloys.
- Proficiency in programming and operating laser welding systems (e.g., Trumpf, IPG).
- Experience with weld quality inspection techniques and root cause analysis.
- Ability to design and optimize welding fixtures and tooling.
- Experience with Solid Works or similar CAD software for fixture design.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize laser welding processes.
- Knowledge of material science, particularly related to weldability of various alloys.
