Staff Accountant

Description Robert Half is partnering with a growing organization to identify a Staff Accountant who will support the Accounting Manager and CFO with day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and managing multiple priorities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting, bank reconciliations, financial statement review, and tax-related accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accrual and cash-basis journal entries as needed

Review financial statements and investigate significant variances

Collaborate with operations and accounts payable teams to ensure proper coding and account classifications

Review accounts receivable activity and customer/resident ledgers

Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies

Prepare quarterly management reporting packages for lenders and stakeholders

Process and reconcile mortgage statements

Record and reconcile real estate taxes, school taxes, insurance expenses, and related payments

Assist with month-end and year-end close activities

Support accounting projects and ad hoc financial reporting requests

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience

Experience performing bank reconciliations and preparing journal entries

Exposure to local, state, and federal tax filings

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Technical Skills

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Experience with accounting and financial reporting systems

Yardi experience is a plus but not required

- At least 1 year of accounting experience, with practical exposure to general ledger activity and financial reconciliations.

- Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries and perform bank account reconciliations accurately.

- Familiarity with tax-related accounting, including exposure to corporate, sales, or other business tax filings.

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with accounting or financial reporting software.

- Solid analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working across accounting, operations, and other internal teams.

- Experience with Yardi is beneficial but not required.
