The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative service in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
This position is located in the Nursing Department of the SW Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana.
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Nursing Assistant 1 or Nursing Assistant 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Please refer to the 'Job Specifications' tab located at the top of the LA Careers 'Current Job Opportunities' page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level.
The Full-time appointment pays $13.74 hourly (base pay - Special Entrance Rate) for a Nursing Assistant 1 plus $5.00 per hour physically worked and $14.70 hourly (base pay - Special Entrance Rate) for a Nursing Assistant 2 plus $5.00 per hour physically worked. Shift differentials also apply (see below):
SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS (per HOUR physically worked):
Shift Diff 1st shift (Weekends, Holidays, and Weekend Holidays)-$2.50
Shift Diff 2nd shift (Weekdays)-$2.50
Shift Diff 2nd shift (Weekends, Holidays, and Weekend Holidays)-$3.00
Shift Diff 3rd shift (Weekdays)-$2.50
Shift Diff 3rd shift (Weekends, Holidays, and Weekend Holidays)- $3.00

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR
Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR
Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.
