Overview

The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced RN Supervisor A to lead and support staff in providing high‑quality care to our honored veterans. This full‑time government position offers excellent benefits, career stability, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact each day.

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse License, or a temporary permit, or a multi‑state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse, plus one of the following:

• Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse;
• A bachelor’s degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse;
• A master’s degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse;
• A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

• Plan and direct the care delivery of all residents on a unit.
• Receive shift report and assess need for reassigning personnel for best coverage and optimal care.
• Make rounds to assess residents, employees, and the physical plant of the assigned unit.
• Collaborate with the RN Supervisor on the evening and night shifts and with other departments to provide support services that facilitate resident care on a 24‑hour basis.
• Review work orders to ensure a safe environment and initiate arrangements to transfer residents to another facility due to serious illness.
• Complete the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process and enter Minimum Data Set (MDS) information into the computer database.
• Supervise, review, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff in the delivery of resident care.
• Make recommendations as needed to improve performance, including selection, disciplinary action, and discharge of subordinates.
• Conduct quality assurance audits as assigned by Nursing Administration.
• Prepare schedule jointly with the Assistant Director of Nurses to provide adequate nurse coverage for the respective shift and advise staff regarding attendance and leave requests.

Probational or Promotional.

Compensation:
Eligible for retention pay (per hour worked) and shift differential.
