Oct 26, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a small rural hospital requiring circulating experience across multiple specialties and on-call availability. Details Operating Room unit in a small rural, multi-disciplinary hospital setting Average daily census of 10 patients across 4 operating rooms OR circulator responsible for OR surgery, C-sections, PACU, and endoscopy coverage Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Call required 1 day per week and every 4th to 5th weekend On-call staff must arrive within 30 minutes of call out Float to other departments when census is low Not a designated trauma facility, though occasional trauma cases may present through the ER Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand at time of submission Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS Minimum 1 year of recent experience required Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required Epic EMR experience required Previous travel RN experience required Community hospital experience preferred
Experience with gynecologic, general, pediatric general, orthopedic, endoscopic, vascular, urologic, ENT, bariatric, thoracic, and oral surgical procedures Proficiency in blood/blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation monitoring, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, peripheral IV starts, universal protocol, bladder catheterization, and wound management Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, latex allergy, and malignant hyperthermia
Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Steris equipment Current driver's license required for consideration Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission) Additional Information Serve as OR circulator supporting surgical, C-section, PACU, and endoscopy procedures First week on the unit includes 2 days of buddy call for orientation Orientation held 5 days a week Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility;
local candidates not accepted Two Manager/Supervisor references (Charge RNs not accepted) required to obtain clearance to start, though not required at submission All RTO must be documented on the candidate profile and discussed during the interview Former permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation from the health system before returning as a travel contractor First-time travelers will not be considered for this position May be assigned to an Emergency Team during declared emergency events, requiring the traveler to remain onsite until relieved American Traveler Job P-766374.
