Job DescriptionTitle: School Social Worker
Summary:
- Educational planning and placement
- Provide bio-psychological and psychosocial assessments
- Provide Wraparound services to children
- Serve as a member of the district counseling team
- Consult with problem-solving, evaluation and IEP
Reports To: Administrator of assigned building
Supervisory Responsibilities: Classroom, students, paraprofessionals as assigned by Administrator
Professional Requirements:
- Ability to perform duties in accordance with general educational ethical requirements of the district and the State Department of Education
- Advanced or Master’s in Social Work and valid state Social Work license.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consult as a Home‑School‑Community Liaison to supervise and support referral of students to appropriate agencies, home visits, truancy intervention, social emotional and behavioral assessment, direct services (social and emotional learning group/individual), professional case management consultation, and coordination of wraparound services with our at‑risk student population.
- Collaborate with guardians, Juvenile Justice, Juvenile Probation and Diversion, Children’s Mental Health, Suicide Prevention Task Force, Drug and Alcohol Programs, Health and Welfare, and community‑based services to perform and coordinate wraparound services for students with serious mental health challenges and their families.
- Case management services with students to support personal, social, or emotional maladjustments related to the educational and social progress.
- Provide casework services with parents to increase parent understanding and constructive participation and utilize community‑based resources for children.
- Consult and collaborate with school personnel in collecting and disseminating information; establishing respective roles in student behavior.
- Participate as team member for problem‑solving team, evaluation and IEP team meetings and maintain all required records.
- Serve as consultant to District Social Workers, School Psychologists, Special Education Case Managers and MTSS problem‑solving teams, evaluation teams and IEP.
- Meet and support students at designated times; establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
- Complete appropriate reporting requirements in a timely manner.
- Evaluate and suggest revisions to the program.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Building.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequently stand, walk, and sit; may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., boxes of books, AV/VCR carts).
- Requires close vision to read handwritten or typed material and adjust focus.
- Must attend meetings in the evening and at other locations.
- Noise level generally moderate; duties performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.
Compensation: Yearly contract based on academic calendar as determined by the Board of Trustees and employee placement on the district’s current salary schedule. Placement is determined by the employee's experience and education level. Comprehensive benefits. Certain specific assignments may require additional work days (extended contracts) as determined by district administration.
Evaluation: Employee’s performance will be evaluated by the Special Education Director and/or designee in conformance with district policies.
