South Central Public Health District (SCPHD) is currently recruiting for a WIC Clinical Assistant to join our dedicated group of public health professionals supporting our Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program in our Division of Community Health located in our
Jerome office

To perform paraprofessional clinical duties; establish and maintain client records, gather client data; provide health and community program resource information to clients; perform related work.

1. Interviewing:

Interviews clients to obtain and document detailed personal data including health and dietary information; compares data with established standards and documents in record; explains services and programs; determines client eligibility; uses information to establish need and adapt services for clients.

2.Clinic:

Sets up clinic for WIC participants; maintains clinic areas using aseptic techniques; monitors lab proficiency testing and equipment standardization; maintains inventory of clinic supplies; obtains and plots growth measurements (heights, weights, lengths); obtains lab samples (hemoglobin), processes, and reads results.

Describes program requirements, reviews client rights, and responsibilities during the intake process; informs clients of other community health and social service resources; offers and reviews nutrition information with client based on identified risk codes; explains use of program benefits; provides health and nutrition information to groups and individuals using professionally prepared materials; distributes program outreach materials.

Establishes and maintains client records; schedules and reminds clients of clinic appointments; contacts clients about program services; compiles data for program reports; maintains inventory of office supplies; types labels and forms; answers telephone and performs receptionist duties; uses office computers to collect, store, and retrieve client data.

Some knowledge of: health and nutritional needs of adults and children.
Experience interviewing and eliciting personal information.

Experience adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Experience recording information accurately and legibly.

Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.

High School Diploma or GED certificate.

Incumbent may be exposed to a noisy and crowded work environment, communicable diseases, and to hostile or aggressive clients. Most positions involve lifting and carrying children and objects such as audiovisual equipment, boxes or educational materials weighing up to 50 pounds. This position will require travel within a local service area.
