Position Summary

The Production Support Specialist supports the Production Manager by assisting in the daily operations of the production process. This role involves ensuring system efficiencies, managing material inventory and flow, and maintaining compliance with established product specifications, SOPs, and plant policies. The Production Support Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the production line and supporting the team in achieving production goals.

Functions, Duties and Performance Responsibilities
  • Assist in directing sanitation activities to ensure equipment cleanliness and adherence to period cleaning criteria.
  • Support improvement projects for the facility.
  • Aid in updating SOPs for all plant positions.
  • Monitor and enforce safety SOPs.
  • Assist in making approved corrections to system SOPs, SSOPs, and the Sanitation Program.
  • Ensure compliance with in‑house and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize statistical process control tools to monitor and adjust operating parameters on equipment.
  • Complete assigned corrective actions in a timely and cost‑efficient manner.
  • Measure and track production goals by process.
  • Track and file production paperwork.
  • Provide timely inventories and feedback to the logistics function.
  • Enforce OSHA and safety regulations.
  • Utilize shift pass‑down meetings and plant meetings to communicate progress against measures, share objectives, and solicit ideas and suggestions from employees.
  • Provide support in leadership and direction.
  • Create an environment that encourages employee involvement and fosters innovative ideas on process improvement.
  • Provide adequate time, training materials, and other resources to assist employees in learning their roles and responsibilities.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
Position Specifications / Qualifications

Education

  • Required:

    High School diploma / GED or equivalent work‑related experience.
  • Preferred:
    Associate’s degree in Dairy Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the dairy food industry in a production setting.
  • Previous automation platform experience is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective prioritizing, organizing, and time‑management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to achieve defined goals on time.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
  • Experience solving problems, analyzing information, highlighting relevant information, and suggesting appropriate actions.
  • Adaptability to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, and dealing with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular ascending and/or descending of ladders and stairs using feet and legs and/or hands and arms on a regular basis. Body agility is emphasized.
