Overview

The Warehouse/Shipping Lead is to supervise the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and shipping department. Including moving finished goods, use of a fork truck, maintaining levels of customer compliance, and communication with customer service for OTIF and outside vendors for inbound shipments. They are responsible for supervising the activities related to safety, security, sanitation and cleanliness of the docks and all related equipment.

They will communicate all issues by documentation and escalate issues with equipment, safety, and shipping helpers to management.

Essential functions & key responsibilities

  • Request feedback on task completion or warehouse worker involvement for scheduling purposes
  • Lead will delegate, motivate, and empower warehouse team members
  • Schedule training according to management’s guidelines
  • Supervise, plan and assign warehouse team to meet schedules to handle daily volume
  • Assist in daily movement of finished goods from production floor to warehouse storage
  • Ensure customer service standards are achieved by directing the activities of the warehouse team and coordinating with customer service and other departments
  • Ensure all products are unloaded and placed for proper inventory control
  • Ensure that all warehouse equipment is maintained and functional. All mechanical issues need to be addressed with maintenance
  • Alert management team of all issues with maintenance of forklifts and safety concerns within the warehouse
  • Ensure all safety policies are followed and any violations reported to management
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed
  • Assists with inventory tracking, inventory cycle counting, and reporting
  • Daily meeting with management and shipping/inventory counterpart
  • Assist management in achieving goals and providing direction to team members as necessary

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Stand up and sit down forklift certification and experience required
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in manufacturing/warehouse environment
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, UPS Software and/or Fed Ex software, Baan; preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
