Our client is looking for a Senior accountant to work in New Jersey, USA.
1. JOB OVERVIEWEnsure the accurate, timely recording, control, and reporting of the company's financial and accounting information in the United States, in compliance with US-GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations across the jurisdictions where the company operates, contributing to the integrity of the financial statements and the group's regulatory compliance.
2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITYExecute and oversee the full accounting cycle, ensure timely compliance with tax obligations in the jurisdictions where the company operates, and support the consolidation of financial statements across multiple entities, ensuring reliable, timely, and compliant accounting information for management decision-making.
3.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute the full accounting cycle: transaction recording, reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accounting adjustments, and balance sheet and income statement account analysis.
- Prepare and analyze the company's financial statements under US-GAAP.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax legislation (income tax, sales & use tax, franchise tax, among others).
- Prepare, review, and coordinate the filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, together with external tax advisors when applicable.
- Track the tax calendar, deadlines, estimated payments, and regulatory requirements for each jurisdiction.
- Support the consolidation process of financial statements across multiple entities and jurisdictions, including intercompany eliminations and reconciliations.
- Provide accounting and tax support for operations across multiple states and/or countries, adapting to specific local regulations.
- Apply basic knowledge of the sports betting / gaming industry: gaming taxes, regulatory reporting, and state licensing requirements, in coordination with Compliance and Legal.
- Perform and review bank reconciliations for assigned accounts.
- Oversee the recording and control of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing supporting work papers (PBC) and responding to auditor requests.
- Analyze budget vs. actual variances and explain relevant deviations to management.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and the company's accounting policies and procedures up to date.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, CPA firms, and auditors to properly manage tax and accounting matters.
- Support the implementation of new accounting standards (ASC/US-GAAP updates) and assess their impact on the financial statements.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to junior accounting analysts.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for management and, when applicable, for the parent company.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Solid, demonstrable knowledge of US-GAAP.
- Knowledge of U.S. tax legislation (federal, state, and local).
- Experience with the full accounting cycle and monthly/annual closings.
- Experience preparing and/or coordinating the filing of corporate tax returns.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions (multi-state / multi-entity).
- Experience in financial statement consolidation processes.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, Power Query).
- Hands-on knowledge of Net Suite or a similar ERP system (SAP, Quick Books, Oracle, among others).
- Strong financial/accounting analysis skills and attention to detail.
- Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license or in process of certification.
- Basic knowledge of the sports betting / gaming industry: gaming taxes, state regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Experience in multinational corporate or holding company environments.
- Knowledge of IFRS, for consolidation with foreign parent companies.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum).
- Basic Spanish (an additional language considered a plus).
- Knowledge of Power BI for reporting and data analysis.
