Our client, in rapid growth mode, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This role will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records, supporting the month-end close process, preparing financial analyses, and assisting with job cost accounting and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while partnering closely with operational leaders and the Controller.

- Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and month-end close activities.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for Controller review.
- Investigate and resolve account reconciliation discrepancies.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Coordinate audit schedules and supporting documentation for annual financial audits.
- Assist with tax reporting and other regulatory filings.
- Support daily banking activities, including cash management and deposits.
- Analyze monthly financial results and identify significant fluctuations, trends, and variances.
- Prepare monthly variance analyses comparing actual performance to budget, forecast, and prior-period results.
- Develop recurring financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management.
- Compile financial data for budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting capabilities and operational visibility.
- Review job cost reports for accuracy, completeness, and proper cost allocation.
- Investigate project cost variances and discrepancies, partnering with Project Managers to gather supporting information and resolve issues.
- Assist in preparing Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and project performance reports.
- Monitor indirect costs and identify opportunities for operational improvement and cost control.
- Maintain and distribute Time & Material and Change Order pricing schedules.
- Assist with administration of the company's insurance programs.
- Maintain insurance certificates, OCIP documentation, and related records.
- Coordinate insurance audits and prepare required supporting documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll and accounting information.
- Assist in developing and documenting accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support training initiatives and knowledge sharing within the department.
- Provide backup support for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by the Controller.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and project accounting preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Construction, contracting, engineering, or project-based industry experience preferred.
- CPA or CPA-track candidate is a plus.
- Experience supporting external audits and insurance audits.
- Competitive salary of $105,000 – $115,000
