Job Summary:

The Temporary, Part-Time Coordinator for Student Involvement supports campus student programming, event operations, and general office functions for the Office of Student Involvement within the Division of Student Affairs. This role contributes to a vibrant and inclusive campus community by facilitating high-quality student events, providing administrative support, supervising student staff, and collaborating across institutional departments. Flexible scheduling is required to accommodate frequent evening and weekend event responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program & Event Setup & Execution:

  • Lead physical setup, equipment assembly, teardown, and logistics for student programs (tables, signage, AV equipment, catering arrangements).
  • Conduct pre-event walkthroughs to ensure compliance with campus facility, safety, and accessibility standards.

Program & Event Coverage:

  • Provide dedicated on-site staffing during student programs, including late-night and weekend hours.
  • Serve as the primary on-site operational point of contact for external vendors, student leaders, guests, and campus stakeholders during active events.
  • Manage crowd flow, address emergent operational/logistical challenges, and enforce institutional policies.

Program Management & Administrative Support:

  • Maintain regular office coverage, answering inquiries from students, staff, and visitors, and providing front-desk administrative support.
  • Assist with program management logistics, including facility reservations, attendance tracking, event evaluations, and purchasing documentation.
  • Support broader Division of Student Affairs initiatives, institutional traditions, and special projects as assigned.

Student Staff Supervision & Campus Partnerships:

  • Supervise, train, and delegate operational tasks to student employees or student event workers as necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-campus departments (e.g., Facilities, Catering, Campus Safety, Residence Life, and Information Technology) to coordinate seamless event delivery.
  • Any other duty or responsibility assigned by the supervisor.

Hourly Rate: $30.00

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and event coordination skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team within Student Affairs.
  • Proficiency with standard office technology (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office) and event management platforms.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming campus environment for a diverse student body.
  • Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to community engagement, service, leadership development, or related work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and maintaining community partnerships.
  • Experience working directly with community-based organizations.
  • Familiarity with service-learning, civic engagement, volunteer management, or leadership development programs.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field preferred (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience in event coordination, student leadership, student affairs, or customer service environments. Experience supervising student employees or volunteers is desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • Special working conditions include frequent evening and weekend hours to support live student events; occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions; fast-paced environment interacting with student organizations, campus partners, and visitors.
