Christchurch is growing, and our Building Consenting Unit is looking for experienced Building Inspectors who want to step into varied and meaningful work within a supportive and technically capable team.
About the RoleYou will carry out site inspections, provide expert advice, and help deliver safe and compliant buildings for the community. The work is fast paced and engaging, with exposure to multi‑unit housing, commercial developments, and a wide range of construction methods.
Responsibilities- Completing accurate and timely site inspection reports
- Verifying that projects meet consented plans and Building Code requirements
- Providing technical advice and resolving inspection‑related matters
- Liaising with teams across Council
- Maintaining current knowledge of the Building Act, Regulations, and Code
We are looking for inspectors who can contribute immediately and continue to grow within the team. You will bring:
- A Regulation 18 qualification, or be working toward completion
- Sound judgement and confidence interpreting the Building Code
- Clear communication and accurate reporting skills
- A professional approach and commitment to good customer service
Experience in residential and/or commercial inspections is welcome.
