About This Position

Hudson County Community Colleges (HCCC) Hudson Hub One Stop Student Service Center (Hudson Hub) houses student services related to enrollment, registration, financial aid, student accounts, and continuing education and workforce development. It is designed to streamline and enhance the student experience. Under the supervision of the Director, the Student Services Assistant serves as the first point of contact in the Hudson Hub, assisting students with a wide range of services.

The Student Services Assistant (SSA) position provides exemplary frontline customer service and possesses a broad knowledge base of all student services, including, but not limited to, admissions, testing, financial aid, student accounts, advising, registration, continuing education, workforce development, transfer pathways, and career services. The SSA is also responsible for processing and scanning paperwork, troubleshooting application and enrollment issues, answering phone calls in the Call Center, and responding to emails and chat/text messages.

The SSA serves students in person in the Hudson Hub.

What You’ll Do
  • Greets students and provides service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner.
  • Assists students in person, on the phone, and via email/text with processes related to admissions, financial aid, student accounts, registration, continuing education, and workforce development.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of HCCC programs and services, determines and delivers the required services, and makes appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • Monitors traffic flow in the Hudson Hub using the queue management system.
  • Troubleshoots and solves application and registration issues.
  • Processes and records cash payments for tuition and fees, issues receipts, and maintains accurate transaction records.
  • Reconciles daily cash transactions and ensures compliance with security protocols for handling cash and sensitive information.
  • Collects, processes, scans, and shreds documents as appropriate.
  • Conducts outreach to prospective and/or current students as needed.
  • Assists students in accessing information via Self‑Service, including Student Planning, Degree Audit, Financial Aid, EAB Navigate, and Student Accounts.
  • Assists students with accessing and completing forms and requirements related to enrollment, financial aid, and academic progress.
  • Makes recommendations for process revisions and improvements.
  • Attends employee training sessions and stays updated on policies, rules, and regulations related to job duties.
  • Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules, locations, and work assignments as defined by College and area needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
