Bergen-Lafayette Montessori School (BLMS) is seeking reliable, systems-oriented Substitute Teaching Assistants to support classrooms during staff absences and transitions throughout the 2026–2027 academic year.
We serve children from 3 months through 5th grade in a bilingual (English–Spanish), mission-driven environment grounded in authentic Montessori practice, clear systems, and high standards of professionalism.
This posting is intended to build a dependable pool of substitute staff who can step into classrooms and maintain consistency, structure, and calm learning environments.

Substitute Teaching Assistants provide coverage support to ensure classrooms continue to function smoothly and consistently when regular staff members are absent.
This role is ideal for individuals who are dependable, adaptable, and comfortable following established classroom systems. The primary goal is to maintain continuity, safety, and a calm environment for students.
Key Responsibilities- Support classroom routines and daily schedules as directed by the Head Teacher, regular support staff, or school administration
- Maintain classroom order, organization, and safety
- Assist with student care, transitions, and material management
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and Montessori classroom expectations
- Communicate professionally with fellow staff and administrators
- Adapt quickly to different classroom environments while maintaining consistency
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior experience working with children (in Montessori settings preferred)
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Strong reliability and punctuality
- Ability to follow established systems and instructions carefully

Compensation & Benefits- Starting at $15.92, commensurate with experience and education
