World Language Teacher

A New Jersey World Language Teacher job involves instructing students in a foreign language, fostering cultural understanding, and developing their skills in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing, while also adhering to state standards and district policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction and Curriculum:

* Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and district curriculum.

* Teach aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the target language.

* Promote cultural awareness and understanding of the countries where the language is spoken.

* Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.

* Use various instructional strategies, including technology, to enhance learning.

Assessment and Evaluation:

* Regularly assess student progress and provide feedback.

* Prepare progress reports and communicate student performance to parents and administrators.

* Identify student learning needs and collaborate with other professionals to address them.

Classroom Management and Professional Development:

* Establish and maintain a positive and productive learning environment.

* Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

* Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.

Other Responsibilities:

* Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities.

* Participate in school-level planning, committees, and extracurricular activities.

* Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.

* Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.

Qualifications:

* Hold a New Jersey Teacher of World Language Certificate.

* Knowledge of NJSLS and mandated state testing.

* Strong communication, organization, and teaching skills.

* Experience teaching secondary students preferred.

* Demonstrated ability to use technology to enhance instruction.

* Enthusiasm for teaching and a passion for language and culture.
