Position: Teaching Assistants (Multiple Levels)

Bergen-Lafayette Montessori School (BLMS) is seeking organized, coachable, and growth-oriented Teaching Assistants to join our school community for the 2026–2027 academic year.

We serve children from 3 months through 5th grade in a bilingual (English–Spanish), mission-driven environment grounded in authentic Montessori practice, clear systems, and high standards of professionalism.

This posting is intended to build a strong pool of candidates across program levels. Final classroom placement will be determined based on experience, availability, and school needs.

Position Summary

Teaching Assistants play a vital role in supporting classroom structure, student independence, and the overall learning environment.

This is a growth-track role designed for individuals who are interested in developing strong Montessori practice over time. Successful candidates are reliable, receptive to coaching, and comfortable working within established systems and expectations.

Teaching Assistants work closely with Head Teachers to ensure consistency, follow-through, and high standards of care and instruction throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and maintenance of a high-fidelity Montessori learning environment
  • Assist with daily classroom routines, transitions, and student care
  • Observe students and contribute to documentation and record-keeping as directed
  • Model grace, courtesy, and professional communication with children and families
  • Support classroom organization, material upkeep, and cleanliness
  • Follow established systems, procedures, and school-wide expectations
  • Participate in professional development and coaching opportunities
  • Collaborate respectfully with classroom and school leadership

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Strong interest in Montessori education and child development
  • Prior experience working with children (in Montessori settings preferred)
  • Reliable attendance and strong professional accountability
  • Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and grow within a structured environment
  • Ability to follow established systems and instructions carefully
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
