Bergen-Lafayette Montessori School (BLMS) is seeking Assistant Teachers who are actively enrolled in a Montessori certification program to join our school community for the 2026–2027 academic year.
We serve children from 3 months through 5th grade in a bilingual (English–Spanish), mission-driven environment grounded in authentic Montessori practice, clear systems, and high standards of professionalism.
This position is designed for adults preparing to become Lead Teachers and functions as a structured training role within an established classroom.

Assistant Teachers work directly under a Head Teacher while completing their Montessori training. The role combines classroom responsibility with guided professional development.
Assistant Teachers gradually assume increased instructional responsibility as they develop competency in classroom management, observation, and lesson presentation.
Successful candidates are reflective, consistent, and open to coaching. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to practice skills repeatedly over time.
Key Responsibilities- Support daily classroom routines and work cycles
- Observe children and maintain written observations
- Present lessons as assigned by the Head Teacher
- Prepare and maintain classroom materials
- Participate in planning and reflection meetings
- Receive and implement instructional feedback
- Communicate professionally with staff and families
- Maintain classroom order and consistency
- Currently enrolled in a MACTE-accredited Montessori certification program (or beginning within 6 months)
- Experience working with children
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to follow established classroom systems consistently
- Previous Montessori classroom experience
- Long-term interest in Lead Teacher role
- Comfort receiving ongoing coaching
