A New Jersey World Language Teacher job involves instructing students in a foreign language, fostering cultural understanding, and developing their skills in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing, while also adhering to state standards and district policies.

Key Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and district curriculum.
  • Teach aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the target language.
  • Promote cultural awareness and understanding of the countries where the language is spoken.
  • Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Use various instructional strategies, including technology, to enhance learning.
Assessment and Evaluation
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide feedback.
  • Prepare progress reports and communicate student performance to parents and administrators.
  • Identify student learning needs and collaborate with other professionals to address them.
Classroom Management and Professional Development
  • Establish and maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.
Other Responsibilities
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities.
  • Participate in school-level planning, committees, and extracurricular activities.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.
  • Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
Qualifications
  • Hold a New Jersey Teacher of World Language Certificate.
  • Knowledge of NJSLS and mandated state testing.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teaching skills.
  • Experience teaching secondary students preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to enhance instruction.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and a passion for language and culture.
