A New Jersey World Language Teacher job involves instructing students in a foreign language, fostering cultural understanding, and developing their skills in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing, while also adhering to state standards and district policies.
Key Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and district curriculum.
- Teach aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the target language.
- Promote cultural awareness and understanding of the countries where the language is spoken.
- Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
- Use various instructional strategies, including technology, to enhance learning.
- Regularly assess student progress and provide feedback.
- Prepare progress reports and communicate student performance to parents and administrators.
- Identify student learning needs and collaborate with other professionals to address them.
- Establish and maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities.
- Participate in school-level planning, committees, and extracurricular activities.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.
- Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
- Hold a New Jersey Teacher of World Language Certificate.
- Knowledge of NJSLS and mandated state testing.
- Strong communication, organization, and teaching skills.
- Experience teaching secondary students preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology to enhance instruction.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and a passion for language and culture.
