Role Description The School Psychologist is a part-time, on-site role based in Jersey City, NJ. This role is responsible for providing psychological services to students across grade levels, including conducting observations, administering and interpreting psychological and academic assessments, and supporting individualized education plans. The School Psychologist collaborates with teachers, administrators, and families to address learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs, and to design appropriate interventions.

Daily tasks include providing short-term counseling, consulting on classroom strategies, maintaining documentation, and participating in student support and multidisciplinary team meetings. The role also involves supporting crisis intervention, promoting mental health awareness, and contributing to a positive, inclusive school climate aligned with the Montessori and STEAM-focused mission.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Psychology and child/adolescent development, with the ability to apply evidence-based practices in a school setting.
  • Experience in Counseling and Mental Health support, including short-term individual and group counseling and crisis response.
  • Proficiency in Psychological Assessment, including administering, scoring, and interpreting standardized tests and writing clear, actionable reports.
  • Understanding of Medicine-related concepts relevant to school psychology, such as developmental disorders, neuropsychology basics, and coordination with healthcare providers.
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in School Psychology or a closely related field; appropriate state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience or interest in Montessori or STEAM-focused environments and multicultural, urban school communities is highly beneficial.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, confidentiality, and professional ethics in all aspects of student support.
