World Language Teacher

A New Jersey World Language Teacher job involves instructing students in a foreign language, fostering cultural understanding, and developing their skills in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing, while also adhering to state standards and district policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruction and Curriculum:
  Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and district curriculum. Teach aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the target language. Promote cultural awareness and understanding of the countries where the language is spoken. Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students. Use various instructional strategies, including technology, to enhance learning.
• Assessment and Evaluation:
  Regularly assess student progress and provide feedback. Prepare progress reports and communicate student performance to parents and administrators. Identify student learning needs and collaborate with other professionals to address them.
• Classroom Management and Professional Development:
  Establish and maintain a positive and productive learning environment. Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.

Other Responsibilities:

• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities. Participate in school-level planning, committees, and extracurricular activities. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies. Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.

Qualifications:

• Hold a New Jersey Teacher of World Language Certificate. Knowledge of NJSLS and mandated state testing. Strong communication, organization, and teaching skills. Experience teaching secondary students preferred. Demonstrated ability to use technology to enhance instruction. Enthusiasm for teaching and a passion for language and culture.
