The Special Education Teacher is a full-time, on-site position located in Jersey City, NJ. This role is responsible for planning and delivering individualized and small-group instruction for students with disabilities in accordance with IEPs and district standards. Daily tasks include adapting curriculum and instructional materials, implementing evidence-based interventions, and collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive educational experiences.

The Special Education Teacher will monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate regularly with families and caregivers about goals, strategies, and outcomes. The role also involves participating in IEP meetings, contributing to multidisciplinary teams, and engaging in ongoing professional development to support best practices in special education.

• Strong foundation in Special Education and knowledge of supports for students with disabilities.
• Demonstrated teaching experience, ideally at the middle school level or with similar age groups.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and support staff.
• Relevant state certification or licensure in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain), and a bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Ability to design differentiated instruction, manage classrooms positively, and use data to inform instructional decisions.
• Experience working in diverse, multicultural school communities and a commitment to culturally responsive teaching.
• Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools that support accessible learning.
