Community Assistant II; Hudson

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is hiring a Community Assistant II to teach research-based nutrition classes to adult and youth participants in Hudson County through the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). The community assistant delivers pre-approved curricula that help participants improve their food security, dietary quality, physical activity, and food safety behaviors, and supports volunteers who assist with outreach.

The role also organizes participant groups, collects program data, and maintains accurate records of hours and expenses.

• Teach research-based, behaviorally focused nutrition classes to adult and youth limited-resource participants.
• Collect demographic and food-intake/behavioral data from each program participant.
• Organize adult groups of 4-15 participants to meet at least 8 times over 4 weeks.
• Guide youth groups in applying nutrition information to themselves and their families.
• Encourage youth to share what they've learned with family members.
• Maintain accurate records of hours worked and program-related expenses.
• Log enrollment and graduation data for each participant or family.
• Use Microsoft Office tools and the WebNEERS reporting system.
• Hold a high school diploma or GED, with a valid driver's license and willingness to use a personal vehicle for travel.
• Earn $40,349.48-$52,735.48 annually in this grant-funded, full-time role.
