Job DescriptionWe are looking for a highly skilled Project Manager to run construction-focused curtain wall, glazing, and architectural glass projects supporting high-end fabrication and installation work.
Most larger scale projects are performed for major General Contractors & Construction Managers (i.e., Tishman, Turner, Lend Lease). Applicants should be punctual, organized, and have a strong background in curtain wall systems, glazing, architectural glass, façade construction, heavy construction project management, and manufacturing environments.
Multi-tasking is a must, as we have multiple projects running through the shop and field at all times. We work on some of the largest projects in the U.S. and are looking for someone who can grow with the company and become a valuable asset for many years to come.
Job Responsibilities / Typical Project Flow Take-off / Scheduling- Do a take-off of drawings and understand the full scope of work (curtain wall, glazing, architectural glass, related metals, and installation requirements).
- Compare your take-off with the sales order and contract scope to determine if any errors were made.
- Learn the job thoroughly, including field conditions, sequencing, and customer milestones.
- Create a project schedule and Gantt chart based on customer milestones and deadlines.
- Create project control sheets to manage status and track every major deliverable from engineering through closeout.
- Work with the production department to schedule shop work activities.
- Work with design, drafting, and engineering teams to create and manage shop drawings and submittals.
- Review details for constructability, code compliance, fabrication feasibility, and installation sequencing.
- Submit shop drawings through various revisions and manage approvals with GCs, architects, consultants, and clients.
- Engineering (when required): coordinate with outside Professional Engineers and submit stamped/sealed drawings and calculations for structural systems.
- Projects requiring permits may require coordination with outside expeditors and inspectors.
- Calculate material requirements for each project based on drawings, specs, and approved submittals.
- Obtain pricing from possible vendors, review estimates with senior leadership, and purchase materials.
- Ensure material lead times align with fabrication and installation schedules.
- Coordinate the manufacture and delivery of all relevant samples, mockups, and prototypes required by contract documents.
- Manage sample approvals and document all outcomes.
- Put in the relevant work order with the factory to have required systems produced.
- Oversee your projects in the shop and work with the Production Manager to ensure accuracy in fabrication (dimensions, tolerances, finishes, glass types, hardware, etc.).
- Quality control: ensure fabricated product aligns with approved shop drawings and project requirements.
- Create control sheets for larger projects where multiple system types are moving through the shop and the site simultaneously.
- Every unit leaving the shop must be properly tracked and documented.
- Direct field survey teams and determine survey objectives.
- Coordinate with other trades as required to support proper sequencing and installation readiness.
- Track field conditions that may impact fabrication, design, or installation.
- Put in the relevant work order with installers and field teams to have systems installed.
- Coordinate with the customer when installation time arrives and confirm site readiness.
- Prepare in-house or subcontract installation teams by keeping packing slips ready, ensuring location plans and elevations are provided, and ensuring installers have clear installation direction.
