VP of Engineering (Biotech | Automation & MES)

We are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead high-impact automation and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) initiatives for a major biotech client. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategy, execution, and team performance across complex, regulated manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in biotech or life sciences, with a strong track record of leading distributed engineering teams and delivering automation and MES programs at scale.

• Lead and scale engineering teams focused on automation, controls, and MES across multiple sites on the US East Coast
• Define and execute engineering strategy aligned with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational excellence
• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of MES platforms (e.g., Emerson Syncade, Werum PAS-X, Rockwell Pharma Suite)
• Drive standardization, digital transformation, and data integration across manufacturing systems
• Partner with client stakeholders, including operations, quality, and IT, to ensure seamless delivery of engineering solutions
• Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and other regulatory standards
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and program timelines across a complex portfolio

• 12+ years of experience in engineering leadership within biotech, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences
• Proven expertise in automation systems (PLC/SCADA/DCS) and MES platforms
• Strong understanding of GMP environments and regulatory frameworks
• Experience leading large, multi-site teams and delivering enterprise-scale programs
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate at executive level
• Willingness to travel across East Coast client sites as needed
