R&D Expert Electrical Engineer Full Time – Hardware Design
Locations:
Budd Lake, NJ or Loveland, CO (Mount Olive, NJ or Loveland, CO)
This role focuses on designing hardware for power electronics, including power supply solutions such as multi‑kilowatt switching supplies, AC sources, 30kW regenerative power solutions, solar array simulators, and AC grid emulators up to 1MW.
Responsibilities- Work on hardware‑based designs for new programmable power supplies.
- Use advanced measurement and simulation tools while collaborating with skilled team members.
- Engage in power‑electronics subsystems design and mentor new graduates as needed.
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of hardware design experience, particularly with power supplies (500W–50kW) and electronic measurement devices.
- Direct design experience with power electronics and switching converter designs from 500W to 50kW, including regenerative grid technologies.
- Strong analog design skills (time and frequency domain measurements).
- Experience in continuous and discrete signals and systems, analog, and digital control theory.
- Experience with digital signal processing (DSP) and HDL design (major plus).
- Ability to model systems in MATLAB and circuit simulators such as Saber, SPICE, or PLECsim.
- Ability to develop cost‑effective and dense designs meeting safety, EMC, and internal quality metrics.
- Direct board layout experience for switching converter designs.
- Experience scoping projects and working with project managers to estimate work breakdown and time estimates.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration across multiple design disciplines.
- Ability to leverage existing solutions and develop from scratch as needed.
- Preferred 5+ years of hardware design for power supplies; HDL skills are a plus.
- HDL coding, simulation, testing, and debugging experience.
- Strong Python programming skills and ability to create clear, efficient, maintainable code.
- Collaboration across firmware, gateware, analog, and digital hardware interfaces.

Compensation:
Pay is based on experience, education, and skills. NJ pay range: MIN $93,000 – MAX $231,000. CO pay range: MIN $86,000 – MAX $214,000. For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region. This role is eligible for Keysight Results Bonus Program.
