We're partnering with a rapidly growing engineering and consulting firm that is looking to add an experienced Project Manager / Team Lead – Building Envelope to its expanding team in Jersey City, New Jersey.

If you're passionate about building science, façade systems, restoration, and leading complex projects from investigation through construction, this is an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative organization that values technical excellence, leadership, and professional development.

You’ll lead high-profile building envelope projects while mentoring junior professionals and helping shape the future of a growing division.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a technical leader, you’ll oversee projects involving the evaluation, design, and rehabilitation of exterior building envelope systems across multifamily, commercial, institutional, and mixed‑use properties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead building envelope investigations, condition assessments, and forensic evaluations.
  • Perform on‑site inspections of cladding systems, roofs, waterproofing, windows, balconies, and related building envelope components.
  • Conduct moisture investigations, leak testing, invasive evaluations, and code compliance reviews.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports identifying deficiencies, root causes, and repair recommendations.
  • Develop repair and restoration design documents, construction details, and CSI‑formatted specifications.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts with architecture, structural, MEP, and forensic teams.
  • Prepare bid documents, facilitate contractor procurement, and support value engineering efforts.
  • Oversee construction administration, including site observations, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, change orders, payment applications, and project closeout.
  • Serve as a technical resource for quality assurance and best practices across the organization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and architects while helping develop internal standards and technical training.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science, Construction Technology, or a related field.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in building envelope consulting, restoration, or façade engineering.
  • Strong expertise with exterior cladding systems, including fiber cement, ACM panels, EIFS, stucco, rainscreen assemblies, masonry veneer, and related façade systems.
  • Proven experience producing technical reports, repair designs, and construction documents.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings to clients, boards, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IIBEC certification (RRC, RWC, REWC, RBEC, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), or licensure in progress is a plus.
  • Experience with forensic investigations, façade assessments, or FORTIFIED building standards is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ASTM, AAMA, TMS, IBC, IEBC, and applicable building codes.
  • Experience with CAD and/or BIM software.
Why You’ll Want This Opportunity

This is more than a project management role—it's an opportunity to become a technical leader within a fast‑growing building envelope practice.

  • Competitive compensation range, based on experience and credentials.
  • Leadership opportunities with significant visibility and influence.
  • Diverse, technically challenging projects spanning façade restoration, waterproofing, roofing, and forensic investigations.
  • A collaborative culture focused on mentorship and career advancement.
  • Continuing education and professional certification support.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, life insurance, continuing education assistance, and additional voluntary benefits.
Physical Requirements

This position includes regular field work and site visits. Candidates should be comfortable working on active construction sites, climbing ladders and scaffolding, accessing rooftops, navigating uneven terrain, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
