Salary/Hourly Rate:$40/hr
Position Overview:Our client is seeking a Packaging Consultant (Design & Development) on a contract (3 - 6 months) and hybrid model (3x onsite) to lead technical milestones in packaging development, ensuring quality, feasibility, and timely delivery. This role collaborates closely with Marketing, Design, and Production teams to develop packaging solutions that meet project goals and cost requirements. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with strong technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Responsibilitiesof the Packaging Consultant (Design & Development):
- Own all technical milestones of Packaging Development, including:
- Selection & validation of stock packaging and drawing validation of custom packaging.
- Homologation and compatibility testing.
- Industrialization feasibility at filler (line trial validation).
- Industrialization of color and decoration execution (color matching and deco trials).
- Validation of pack-out for components and shipper development for finished goods (ship testing).
- Manage packaging development timelines by working closely with project managers and vendors to meet key milestones and support launch timing.
- Write and create packaging specifications, fill and assembly instructions, and pre-bill of material documents.
- Collaborate with the Marketing, Design, and Product Innovation teams to select and develop appropriate packaging within time and cost constraints.
- Manage external relationships with component vendors and finished goods fillers/subcontractors to ensure project progress and visibility into the innovation pipeline.
- 3+ years of experience in packaging development.
- Experience in packaging color matching.
- Understanding of material selection.
- Ability to read technical drawings and review AW files.
- Knowledge of homologation testing procedures.
- Self-starter comfortable with cross-functional collaboration.
- CAD literacy and experience.
- Familiarity with industrialization processes and packaging line trials.
- Strong project management and vendor coordination skills.
- Experience in cosmetics or consumer goods packaging development.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
