Overview
Lord Abbett’s Emerging Markets Fixed Income team is seeking an experienced emerging markets sovereign research analyst to cover a subset of sovereign credits across Africa, Asia and Latin America. The successful candidate will be an experienced and energetic member of the Emerging Markets Debt team. The team manages the Sovereign, Quasi-Sovereign, and Corporate investments across all of Lord Abbett’s fixed income portfolios.
Position is located in Jersey City, NJ office.
We’re looking for a candidate to lead the credit analysis for emerging market sovereigns using quantitative and qualitative analysis tools and techniques.
We’ll Trust You To- Conduct independent research, develop regional macro-economic, financial, political forecasts and translate them into specific investment views in Emerging Markets fixed income markets - external debt, local rates and currencies.
- Formulate and forecast views on relative value across countries and regions, macro/political risk assessments, and debt sustainability and translate views into actionable trade recommendations.
- Actively communicate views to EMD PMs and other external and internal clients.
- Actively participate in investment meetings.
- Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with economic and debt databases from official creditors (e.g., IMF/World Bank) and sources such as Haver/Bloomberg; demonstrated ability to use such data to develop comprehensive financial models.
- Experience analyzing EM sovereign debt restructurings, modeling potential recovery values and ability to generate alpha in restructuring/post-restructuring processes.
- Robust international contact network and ability to conduct bilateral due diligence meetings with policymakers, IFI representatives, academics, and other experts.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and ongoing dialogue with the portfolio management team to share trade recommendations, market views and analysis of events.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Political Science, International Relations.
- Preferably 3 years of direct EMD Sovereign Analyst / Economist and/or broader rating agency or asset management experience.
- Experience at the IMF is a plus.

Compensation Information:
Annual base salary for this role is $135,000 - $170,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
Discretionary Bonus:
The role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Bonuses are determined by factors including firm, team, and individual performance.
