Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced SEC Rule 15c3-3 Computation Analyst with direct broker-dealer experience preparing the weekly Customer Protection Rule reserve computation. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience owning or preparing the weekly SEC Rule 15c3-3 computation—not solely reviewing, validating, reconciling or auditing a computation prepared by another team. The position will collect and validate required financial data, calculate customer reserve requirements, research exceptions, maintain supporting documentation and ensure timely and accurate completion in accordance with SEC and Client requirements.

Experience using Axiom for the 15c3-3 computation is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the weekly SEC Rule 15c3-3 Customer Protection Rule computation for a broker-dealer.
  • Collect, review and validate credit and debit balances and other data required for the reserve formula.
  • Calculate the broker-dealer's customer reserve requirement accurately and within regulatory deadlines.
  • Perform reconciliations and validate data received from finance, operations, treasury, regulatory reporting and other business units.
  • Research variances, exceptions and unreconciled items affecting the computation.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to obtain missing information and resolve data-quality or calculation issues.
  • Prepare and maintain complete supporting schedules, calculation files, reconciliations and audit documentation.
  • Ensure applicable reserve deposits or withdrawals are properly supported and communicated.
  • Perform quality-control reviews of computation inputs and outputs.
  • Maintain clear evidence of calculation methodology, adjustments, approvals and issue resolution.
  • Support regulatory examinations, internal audits and external audit requests related to Rule 15c3-3.
  • Identify control gaps and recommend improvements to the computation and reporting process.
  • Monitor regulatory developments affecting the Customer Protection Rule.
  • Use Axiom or similar regulatory reporting platforms to prepare and support the weekly computation.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive customer, financial and regulatory information.
Required Qualifications
  • At least five years of overall financial-services, broker-dealer, regulatory reporting, finance or related experience.
  • At least two years of direct, hands-on experience preparing the weekly SEC Rule 15c3-3 Customer Protection Rule computation.
  • Experience working within a registered broker-dealer.
  • Demonstrated experience calculating the weekly reserve requirement, including responsibility for underlying inputs, adjustments and supporting schedules.
  • Strong understanding of SEC Rule 15c3-3 and the Customer Reserve Formula.
  • Experience researching breaks, variances, exceptions and reconciliation discrepancies.
  • Experience preparing regulatory work papers and supporting internal, external or regulatory examinations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict regulatory deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on Axiom 15c3-3 experience.
  • Experience with automated regulatory reporting and computation platforms.
  • Familiarity with related broker-dealer financial responsibility requirements.
  • Experience partnering with regulatory reporting, finance, treasury, operations, compliance and audit teams.
  • Experience improving or automating 15c3-3 computation processes and controls.
Critical Screening Requirement

Candidates must have personally prepared or performed the weekly Rule 15c3-3 computation. Experience limited to the following is not sufficient:

  • Reviewing a completed computation
  • Verifying or approving results
  • Performing reconciliations without calculating the reserve requirement
  • Auditing the 15c3-3 process
  • Conducting compliance monitoring or control testing
  • Providing general knowledge or advisory support
The resume must clearly identify:
  • The broker-dealer where the computation was performed
  • At least two years of direct computation experience
  • Weekly computation ownership or preparation
  • The specific systems used, particularly Axiom
  • The candidate's role in inputs, calculations, adjustments, exceptions and final reporting
