Soltage Senior Associate - Portfolio Management / Corporate Finance Company Overview
Soltage is a leader in the development, financing, and operation of distributed utility‑scale solar, storage and solar + storage assets for commercial, industrial, municipal, and utility customers across the United States. Soltage has developed more than 135 solar energy projects, with more than 600 MW total distributed generating capacity in operation or under construction and invested over $1.5 Billion to date into the US clean energy sector.
Soltage is headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey.
We are seeking a Senior Associate, Portfolio Management / Corporate Finance to take a leadership seat on the team that sits at the center of how Soltage funds and grows its business. This is a role for someone who has already done the work at the associate level and is ready to own outcomes, set the standard for how the team executes, and develop the analysts and associates around them.
You will operate across three connected mandates. On the portfolio side, you will own the intake of newly closed solar and storage projects into Soltage's financing vehicles and run the debt and tax equity fundings that keep capital flowing to construction, serving as the day‑to‑day lead with lenders and tax equity investors. On the corporate side, you will help lead capital raises at the platform level - corporate credit facilities, holdco debt, and equity capital - and then manage those vehicles day to day, from availability and covenant compliance through lender reporting and repayment.
And across both, you will stay with the assets long after they energize - keeping each financing vehicle compliant and well‑run through the full operating life of its projects and bringing a strategic lens to portfolio operations. The ideal candidate brings several years of directly relevant experience in portfolio management, corporate finance, investment banking, or project finance; exercises independent judgment on issues that reach management, and thrives leading complex processes across deal, accounting, legal, and lender teams.
- Own the portfolio onboarding process, directing junior team members and coordinating with the investments team to carry newly closed projects, deals, and funding transactions from signature to fully integrated, fully funded assets.
- Own debt and tax equity fundings end to end — from draw request through close — acting as the primary point of contact for lenders, tax equity investors, and their counsel, and resolving funding conditions and diligence issues as they arise.
- Take a lead workstream role in capital formation at the corporate level: help structure, market, and close corporate credit facilities, holdco debt, and equity capital, running lender and investor diligence, and working with counsel on the commercial terms of the financing documents.
- Own the ongoing management of those corporate vehicles after close: borrowing base and availability, covenant compliance, draws and repayments, and lender and investor deliverables.
- Build and maintain the corporate capital model: sources and uses, liquidity forecasting, and scenario analysis that shape how and when Soltage raises its next dollar.
- Manage communication as a trusted point of contact for Soltage's capital partners, including the development of investor and lender reporting materials.
- Calculate and oversee debt service, distributions, and cash waterfalls; adhere to portfolio requirements and standards outlined in financing and organizational documents.
- Identify and implement process improvements that allow a fast‑growing portfolio to scale without adding friction.
- Contribute to corporate FP&A alongside senior members of the team: helping build the operating budget and multi‑year plan, owning the monthly and quarterly variance analysis against actuals, and giving management a clear read on liquidity, cash flow, and capital needs.
- Manage Soltage's financing vehicles through the operating life of the assets, owning the recurring compliance calendar: covenant and DSCR testing, reserve requirements, distributions, and lender and tax…
