Pay Range: $37.56 - $50.55 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
Job SummaryMedical technologists analyze samples of blood, tissue, and body fluids to determine chemical content, cell count, drug levels, or blood type; they also search for specific microorganisms such as bacteria or parasites. They prepare samples for examination using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, perform numerous complicated tests simultaneously, and accurately interpret the results.
QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
Experience: One year experience working in a hospital setting laboratory preferred;
Blood Bank experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure: ASCP preferred.
Responsibilities- Determine normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, and spinal fluids.
- Process and receive samples of blood, urine, and body fluids.
- Perform and interpret clinical laboratory tests, providing data for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopic techniques and procedures.
- Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
- Ensure operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating, completing preventive maintenance, performing quality control, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock levels, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Provide medical technology information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Maintain inter- and intradepartmental workflow by fostering cooperation.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols.
- Follow all laboratory policies and procedures.
- Perform proficiency testing as required by CAP.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect hospital information.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
