Are you ready to invent the future of cloud infrastructure? Join us to shape a new era in cloud computing and build a career that matches your ambition. We are looking for Cloud Engineers to design, deploy, and operate the Infrastructure-as-a-Service layer of the Outscale cloud.
You will work at the intersection of our Platform-as-a-Service and the underlying physical infrastructure, driving automation, expanding services to new regions, and ensuring the platform is secure, resilient, high‑performing, and compliant.
You will partner with infrastructure development, automation, and operations teams to implement cloud best practices and deliver production‑ready, compliant cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities AREA WHAT YOU’LL DO Automation & Operations- Deploy, manage, maintain, and operate the Outscale cloud using best‑practice patterns for scalability, performance, and security.
- Build, implement, and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) pipelines with Terraform, Ansible/Salt Stack, Packer, Jenkins, etc.
- Own the full lifecycle of our IaaS environment, from initial provisioning to continuous supervision, placing a strong emphasis on process automation.
- Automate and industrialise deployments, updates, and regional expansions; ensure repeatable, auditable release pipelines.
- Propose and implement system improvements that boost performance, resilience, and cost‑efficiency.
- Contribute directly to the technological evolution of the platform.
- Define, implement, and refine critical KPIs (SLI, SLO, SLA).
- Build and maintain observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, ELK) to proactively detect and resolve issues.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise system performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Identify and remediate single points of failure and security risks; ensure system resiliency.
- Analyse and address performance and scalability challenges with durable solutions.
- Write clear technical documentation, runbooks, and operational playbooks.
- Conduct knowledge‑transfer sessions and internal training to keep the team up‑to‑date.
- Perform deep‑dive investigations on escalations from client support.
- Participate in on‑call rotations and provide timely resolutions.
- Strengthen relationships with internal (development, security, product) and external (vendors, partners) teams to foster a collaborative, innovative environment.
- Assist in capacity planning and roadmap development for future infrastructure growth.
- Ensure all cloud‑engineering practices comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., VA standards).
- US Citizenship is a must.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3–8 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Dev Ops, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Proven expertise in Unix/Linux environments with strong scripting/automation skills (Bash, Python).
- Expert‑level proficiency with Salt Stack or Ansible (Salt Stack preferred).
- Deep knowledge of networking fundamentals, physical and virtual system & storage infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience provisioning, orchestrating, and managing virtual resources.
- Familiarity with data protection, disaster‑recovery strategies, and compliance frameworks.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and operations.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with an automation‑first approach.
