Overview:
Optomi, in partnership with a leading retail enterprise, is seeking a Manager, Network & Telecommunications Services to lead the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of a large-scale enterprise network supporting 1,300+ retail locations
, corporate offices, distribution centers, data centers, and cloud environments.
This leader will be responsible for the overall health, stability, and modernization of the enterprise network while managing a blended delivery model of internal engineers, contractors, and offshore Managed Service Providers (MSPs). The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in enterprise networking along with proven experience driving operational excellence, vendor governance, service delivery, and large-scale infrastructure transformation initiatives.
This role will play a critical part in Burlington's network modernization roadmap, leading initiatives including SD-WAN transformation, HPE Aruba standardization, Fortinet adoption, data center infrastructure refreshes, SASE implementation, and network lifecycle management. Success in this role requires a strategic leader who can balance day-to-day operational stability with long-term technology investments while partnering cross-functionally across Infrastructure, Architecture, Information Security, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the design, delivery, and 24/7 operation of Burlington's enterprise network and telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team of network engineers, architects, contractors, and offshore Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
- Own vendor governance by driving SLA performance, operational reviews, service quality, and continuous improvement across outsourced support partners.
- Serve as the executive escalation point for major network incidents, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with business and technology stakeholders.
- Drive enterprise network modernization initiatives, including SD-WAN transformation, wireless standardization, infrastructure refreshes, disaster recovery enhancements, and cloud connectivity improvements.
- Partner with Architecture, Information Security, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to define network standards, roadmaps, and best practices that support business growth.
- Oversee network lifecycle management, capacity planning, resiliency, disaster recovery, and overall network performance across corporate offices, retail locations, and cloud environments.
- Manage technology vendors, project budgets, contractor resources, and strategic investments while ensuring successful execution of enterprise initiatives.
- Develop and implement operational governance, documentation, change management processes, and performance metrics to improve service delivery and network reliability.
- Support continued business expansion by delivering scalable network solutions for new store openings and enterprise growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Enterprise Network Engineering, Network Operations, or Infrastructure Delivery.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing enterprise networking teams, including internal engineers, contractors, and offshore Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
- Proven experience supporting large-scale, highly distributed enterprise environments with hundreds or thousands of locations.
- Strong background in enterprise routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS.
- Hands-on experience with SD-WAN, enterprise LAN/WAN/WLAN, and network modernization initiatives.
- Expertise with HPE Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet/Forti Gate, Palo Alto, F5, and Infoblox technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise cloud networking within Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale infrastructure transformation projects, including network refreshes, cloud connectivity, disaster recovery, high availability, and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) initiatives.
- Strong experience managing vendor relationships, operational governance, KPI reporting, SLA compliance, and continuous service improvement.
- Experience with network monitoring, performance optimization, capacity planning, and incident management within mission-critical enterprise environments.
- Retail or other highly distributed enterprise experience is strongly preferred.
- Industry certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, F5-CTS, or ITIL Foundation are preferred.
