This is a hybrid contract opportunity based in Jersey City, NJ. The role offers the chance to work hands‑on with modern BI and data platforms, including Power BI, Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, and curated Lakehouse datasets. This is a strong opportunity for a Power BI professional who enjoys building enterprise dashboards, optimizing reporting performance, and partnering with stakeholders to turn complex data into actionable insights.
HowYou Will Make An Impact
- Design, build, and deliver interactive Power BI dashboards and reports tailored to different stakeholder groups and source systems.
- Create cybersecurity-focused dashboards using curated data from an Azure Databricks Lakehouse environment.
- Connect Power BI to Databricks SQL endpoints and Unity Catalog tables, supporting both Import and Direct Query reporting models.
- Build and maintain Power BI data models using star schemas, relationships, calculated columns, DAX measures, and KPIs.
- Use Power Query to clean, transform, validate, and reconcile data for accurate reporting outputs.
- Implement row-level security and ensure dashboards align with enterprise data governance and access control requirements.
- Optimize dashboard and dataset performance through efficient DAX, model tuning, and reporting best practices.
- Partner with business users, SMEs, and data engineers to gather metric requirements, resolve issues, and support dashboard enhancements.
- 5+ years of hands‑on Power BI development experience.
- Strong experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query, dashboards, and reports.
- Proven ability to build clean, scalable data models using star schema design, relationships, KPIs, and reusable measures.
- Experience integrating Power BI with Azure Databricks, including Databricks SQL endpoints or SQL Warehouse.
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of data transformation, validation, and reporting concepts.
- Experience implementing row-level security and supporting governed dashboard access.
- Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and translate reporting needs into usable dashboard solutions.
- Preferred experience with Databricks Lakehouse, Unity Catalog, financial services, cybersecurity reporting, Azure Data Factory, ADLS, Entra , enterprise reporting, performance tuning, and self‑service BI enablement.
