UI/UX Design Consultant - II
Location:
New York City, NY/ Jersey City, NJ
Duration: 12 Months
Type:
Full-Time, Contract
Note:
Portfolio required – should demonstrate solid UX work and evidence of working through multiple phases of the process from strategic planning and wire framing through development, implementation, and execution.
Description:
This would be the first dedicated full-time person in this specific role on the site/team. Similar work is currently being distributed across contractors and agencies. The role will have a strong focus on visual design and interaction design, with some UX testing/experimentation experience appreciated. The designer will be responsible for both building layouts and experiences within the existing AEM environment and helping develop new components/systems and evolve the existing system.
The manager indicated an approximate 50/50 split between working within the existing AEM system and helping evolve/develop new components and systems. Strong design execution is more important than deep technical/CMS expertise. The team is open to candidates coming from other component-based CMS environments and can provide AEM training.
Skills:
- Strong UX, visual, and interaction design capabilities
- Ability to work through multiple stages of the design process, from strategic planning and wire framing through development, implementation, and execution
- Strong Figma experience is particularly important
- Experience with a content management system is helpful, but direct AEM experience is not mandatory
- Analytics experience should be sufficient to understand the implications of data, rather than requiring expert-level analytics skills
- Strong design execution is more important than deep technical/CMS expertise
- Portfolio should demonstrate solid user experience work and design thinking, with evidence of execution across multiple stages of the process: strategic planning → wire framing → development → implementation/execution
- Portfolios should demonstrate that candidates can work through the broader design process rather than only showing polished final visuals
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or a related field (preferred)
- 5–8+ years of relevant UX/UI design experience
- Candidates with more experience than the target range will still be considered; candidates with less experience are harder to accept
- Or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- Financial Services experience – strong plus
- B2B / Professional Services experience – appreciated
- Experience with AEM or another component-based/content management system – valuable
- UX testing/experimentation experience – bonus, not required
- Analytics tools (e.g., Adobe Analytics / Google Analytics) – understanding of implications
- Multi-stage interview process – likely approximately 3 stages/interviews
- Interviews are expected to be conducted virtually
