Systems Engineer, IT Infrastructure
CMK Resources is seeking a Senior Pure Storage Resident Engineer to support one of our strategic technology partners and their end customer, a major financial services organization. This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering role supporting a large and complex enterprise storage environment across Pure Storage Flash Blade and Flash Array.
We are specifically looking for an engineer with strong, hands-on production experience with BOTH Pure Storage Flash Blade and Flash Array. Candidates must have personally administered, supported, optimized, and troubleshot both platforms in enterprise environments.
This is not an architecture-only, implementation-only, or pre-sales position. The ideal candidate is a senior operational storage engineer with deep expertise across file, object, and block storage, including S3, and the troubleshooting skills to independently own complex production issues.
This is also a true Resident Engineer position. You will work directly alongside the customer, take ownership of technical issues and optimization initiatives, and become a trusted technical advisor within their storage organization.
What You Will Be Doing- Provide hands-on administration, operational support, troubleshooting, and optimization of Pure Storage Flash Blade and Flash Array in a large enterprise production environment.
- Troubleshoot complex storage issues involving performance, latency, availability, capacity, connectivity, access, and application workloads.
- Support S3/object storage environments, including APIs, buckets, authentication, permissions, performance, and application connectivity.
- Administer and troubleshoot enterprise file services, including NFS and SMB/CIFS.
- Support enterprise block storage workloads on Pure Flash Array, including SAN connectivity and performance.
- Perform proactive health checks, performance analysis, capacity planning, monitoring, and optimization across the Pure environment.
- Support multi-tenant environments, including RBAC, access policies, authentication, and tenant separation.
- Manage and troubleshoot snapshots, replication, data protection, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Support upgrades, maintenance activities, infrastructure changes, migrations, and lifecycle management.
- Perform deep root cause analysis using logs, metrics, alerts, and system behavior rather than relying solely on vendor escalation.
- Work across storage, VMware, Linux, networking, backup, security, database, cloud, and application teams to resolve complex infrastructure issues.
- Participate in incident management, change management, maintenance windows, and major production events.
- Identify opportunities to improve storage performance, reliability, utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, runbooks, and best practices.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the customer, proactively identifying risks and recommending improvements.
- 8+ years of enterprise storage engineering experience supporting large, business-critical production environments.
- Hands-on Pure Storage Flash Blade experience is required.
- Hands-on Pure Storage Flash Array experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting both Flash Blade and Flash Array in production environments.
- Strong hands-on experience across file, object, and block storage.
- Strong knowledge of S3/object storage, including troubleshooting workloads, APIs, access, permissions, and performance.
- Strong experience with NFS and SMB/CIFS.
- Strong understanding of enterprise SAN/block storage concepts and troubleshooting.
- Experience troubleshooting storage performance, latency, capacity, availability, connectivity, and access issues.
