QUICK OVERVIEW – TL;DR
We are hiring a Mitigation Crew Chief – an experienced restoration technician who can lead field execution, run tight documentation, and set the standard for quality and professionalism on job sites. This role is the bridge between Technician and Project Manager, with a clear path into Associate PM for high performers.
THE WHYThe Crew Chief is the field leader who keeps jobs on track: safe work, clean sites, accurate documentation, and clear communication so PMs and estimators can bill correctly and close files faster.
THE WHEREOpportunities in both New York and New Jersey (Metro NY/NJ). Field‑based roles require travel across NYC and Northeast NJ as needed.
THE ROLE – WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO- Lead a small crew in the field and execute the mitigation scope safely and efficiently.
- Drive Paul Davis vehicles and manage tools/equipment on jobs; ensure proper setup and tear‑down.
- Perform and/or oversee moisture mapping, equipment calculations, and daily monitoring.
- Own job documentation quality: photos, notes, moisture logs, work authorizations, equipment logs, and job file completeness.
- Use technology comfortably (mobile apps; Docu Sketch or similar; job documentation platforms).
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers and estimators – provide field intel, documentation, and updates that support billing and claim compliance (TPA/carrier requirements).
- Communicate professionally with customers, building staff, and adjusters when appropriate; represent Paul Davis with empathy and confidence.
- Run small inspections and support emergency response as needed; participate in on‑call rotation.
- 5+ years restoration/mitigation experience with residential and commercial exposure.
- IICRC certification required (WRT preferred; Fire/Mold certifications are a plus – at least one certification required).
- Comfort leading technicians and holding standards without being heavy‑handed.
- Strong judgment on safety, containment, and documentation discipline.
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple moving pieces in the field.
- Crew Chief (lead field execution) → Associate Mitigation Project Manager (structured PM training) → Mitigation Project Manager → Senior PM / leadership.
- High performers will be considered for accelerated development into PM‑track roles.
- Required:
Valid driver's license; ability to lead field teams; comfort with tech and job documentation; IICRC certification (at least one). - Preferred:
Docu Sketch proficiency; experience with TPAs (Contractor Connection, etc.); knowledge of psychrometrics; experience supporting large‑loss or complex commercial claims.
- Hourly pay range: $22-$30/hr (based on experience and certifications).
- Overtime opportunities, weekly pay, benefits eligibility, including PTO, 401(k) with match, medical reimbursement, and training/development support.
Apply today. If you can lead in the field, run clean documentation, and want a real path into project management, we want to meet you.
