Job Description:

We are looking for a caring and responsible part-time Registered Nurse to support the health and safety of students and staff. You will assist the Certified School Nurse (CSN) with health-related tasks and office duties.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assists CSN with preparing a health profile and a care plan for each student and disseminating the profile and plan to those staff who have direct contact with the student.
• Consults with the student’s individual physician as needed and relays information to staff for follow-up care needs/ any restrictions.
• Ensures receipt of required medical paperwork (i.e., Seizure Action Plans, Asthma & Allergy Action Plans) and makes necessary follow-ups with families/ doctors under the direction of the CSN.
• Follow emergency procedures in case of accidents and serious illness of students and staff.
• Contacts parents of absent students daily and maintains student attendance tracking system.
• Administers and dispenses medications to students prescribed by their physician.
• Gathers and maintains accurate health records of the student.
• Participates and attends the following trips: CBI, SLE, School Field Trips and any other off-site activities.
• Assumes responsibility for anticipating supplies needed for nursing service and is responsible for keeping equipment and supplies in working condition.
• Assist with in-service education/training to staff to include but not limited to Epi-pen delegates, and serve as resource person in areas concerning health, safety, first aid, and disease control.
• Communicating with families under the direction of the CSN.
• Ensures compliance with all DOE regulations on professional development, immunization records, and documentation.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• New Jersey RN License
• Experience with children and young adults with disabilities preferred.
