Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital (GSMH) is seeking a Registered Nurse with experience or interest in perioperative nursing to join our dedicated team. As part of the Lower Mid North Coast Sector within Hunter New England Local Health District, GSMH provides a range of acute healthcare services to the Gloucester community and surrounding areas.

The hospital features a 14-bed acute ward, Emergency Department, Day Stay Unit, Operating Theatre and Community Health Centre, providing a diverse and rewarding clinical environment. Working within our perioperative team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills across a variety of surgical specialties while contributing to the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care close to home. What

You Will Be Doing

As a Perioperative Registered Nurse, you will deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. We are seeking nurses with experience or an interest in Scrub/Scout and/or Anaesthetic Nursing who are committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes. In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across the patient journey.
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile environments and surgical instruments.
  • Support patients during the intraoperative and post-anaesthetic recovery phases.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement activities.
  • Ensure safe patient care through effective communication, clinical judgment and adherence to best practice standards.

The position reports directly to the Nurse Unit Manager and offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and experienced perioperative team.
