Job OverviewThe Service Line Manager oversees day-to-day clinical operations for the operating room service line, coordinating physician needs, room assignments, equipment, and staffing while ensuring compliance with policies, safety programs, and regulatory readiness. This role also provides direct patient care as needed, leads education and competency initiatives, and supports infection control and quality improvement efforts.
Qualifications- BSN, or currently enrolled in a BSN program
- 5 years of operating room experience
- CNOR certification within one year of hire
- Successful completion of orientation programs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Preferred: Membership in a professional nursing organization such as AORN
Essential Functions- Identify and coordinate physician service line needs through scheduled meetings.
- Maintain and upgrade service line preference cards.
- Coordinate with the OR Director for daily room assignments aligned with skill level of team members.
- Collaborate with Materials Management and Central Sterile Department regarding service needs and issues.
- Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.
- Participate in hospital safety programs.
- Demonstrate and apply hospital and departmental policies consistently.
- Maintain regulatory readiness.
- Manage the service line’s daily clinical operations, including practice standards, staffing, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement.
- Plan and monitor service line activities.
- Provide direct patient care as needed, including breaks and lunch relief.
- Facilitate and control the turnaround time process through OR staff utilization coordination.
- Collaborate with service line team members to ensure necessary equipment is available across shifts.
- Identify and coordinate educational needs of service line team members with the OR educator.
- Develop orientation programs for new service line team members.
- Maintain competency records in conjunction with the Department of Education.
- Develop and implement action plans to improve staff development.
- Balance professional and personal pursuits, and promote self‑care practices.
- Demonstrate leadership and decision‑making skills, and manage budgets and personnel.
- Provide clinical competency in OR and knowledge of EMR.
