About the Position

Provide high‑touch palliative care for people facing serious illness in a hospital setting at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. The role is supported by structured mentorship, physician/APP backup, and a dedicated team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient‑centered interdisciplinary palliative medicine at the top of your license.
  • Consult and follow‑up across ED, ICU, and medical/surgical units.
  • Manage complex symptoms for patients with advanced illness and chronic disease.
  • Lead goals‑of‑care and advance care planning conversations; coordinate with SNFs and hospices as appropriate.
  • Integrate with the interdisciplinary and hospital teams; shape palliative practice workflows.
  • Document timely and accurately in line with clinical, billing, and quality standards.
  • Balance discharge planning with intake, managing transitions from inpatient to next settings.
Qualifications
  • Active New Jersey Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license; national board certification.
  • DEA and CDS registration or ability to obtain by start date.
  • 2+ years of palliative care experience; palliative care certification (e.g., ACHPN/CHPN) preferred.
  • Strong communication, clinical judgment, compassion; comfort in interdisciplinary teamwork.
Compensation & Total Rewards
  • Competitive base salary: $130,000–$160,000 per year.
  • Annual performance bonus up to 12.5% of base salary.
